Purity Fundraising has ceased trading with immediate effect, affecting 50 members of staff.
Over the past two years, the operating environment for telephone fundraising has become increasingly challenging. Campaign delays, reduced data volumes and extended tender timelines have created sustained uncertainty across the sector.
At the same time, the underlying economics of the model have become more difficult. The cost per call has seen limited movement across much of the sector over the past decade, while operating costs have risen significantly. As a Living Wage Foundation employer, we remained committed to paying fair wages, and those rates — alongside increases in PAYE and other employment costs — have increased materially in recent years. Sadly pricing across the sector has not adjusted at the same pace as rising employment and compliance costs.
Despite delivering strong results, maintaining high service standards and winning new work, the cumulative impact of prolonged uncertainty and structural cost pressures ultimately left the business unable to continue trading sustainably.
We are incredibly proud of what Purity achieved since its founding in 2017, having raised £65 million for charities and built a reputation rooted in quality and ethical fundraising. We are devastated that the business has reached this point.
Our immediate focus is supporting our team through the closure process, ensuring they receive clear guidance regarding next steps, and doing everything we can to help them secure new roles within the sector.
